Registration (library ticket)
To borrow a book you need a library ticket.
You require a user number, which is on the library card, and a password to access the library's catalogue and interlibrary loan. In addition, members of the university need these to use the library's internet computers.
Students get their library ticket forwarded in the form of a combined student's and library ticket from the registrar's office. Foreign students have to apply to the international student office. If you are newly registered, you have to have your ticket unlocked at the registration desk.
If you don't study at the University of Paderborn, you can get a ticket at the registration desk, provided that you are at least 16 years old and have a fixed place of abode in Germany. The issuing of the ticket is free of charge.
To register you must submit:
- a completed application form
- your identity card
- if you are a foreign citizen, a registration card from the registration office
- a student identity card if applicable
By signing the application form or having your ticket unlocked, you accept library regulations.
Without a library ticket you cannot borrow books. In your own interest, please notify the loan department immediately (ortsleihe@ub.uni-paderborn.de, tel.: 05251/602012) if you lose your library ticket or change your postal or e-mail address. If you study at the University of Paderborn, please inform the registrar's office about any change of your postal or e-mail address.
The library ticket is valid:
| - for members of the university (A-ticket): | for an unlimited period |
| - for guests etc.: | for 5 years |
| - for students of the university: | for one term |
