From 10 to 12 October 2006, the University Library took part in the "Taster course in natural sciences and engineering" organised for schoolgirls from schools in Paderborn and the surrounding area with a short presentation by Dr. Marlene Tiggesbäumker.

23.06.2006 - Reading by Olga Masur: "Ich wollt' ich wär' die Letzte - Kindesvergewaltigung und die Zeit danach. An authentic report."

The reading took place at 4.00 pm in the Notebook Café in the foyer of the University Library.

03-04 July 2005 - 8th book bazaar

Approx. 5,450 books and journals were offered at the 8th Book Bazaar of the University Library. Approx. 1,800 books and journals were sold. The proceeds of approx. 2,560 € were used for the purchase of new specialised literature.

03.07.2005 - Open Day

The University Library participated in the event from 10.00 to 18.00 with great success with an information stand, short guided tours through the library, a PowerPoint presentation about the library, a book bazaar (see above), a library quiz, the exhibition "2665 - scenic photographs" and musical intermezzi by the flute ensemble 'Flauto amabile Paderborn'.

22.04.2005 - Exquisite day and night

As part of the "Erlesenes bei Tag und Nacht" event organised by the City of Paderborn to mark "World Book Day", the glass extension on the top floor of the University Library was transformed into a concert and cabaret stage for one evening: the programme included literary and political cabaret with Eckhard Radau and Bernd Düring, a concert with singer Lara Schallenberg and guitarist Eddie Nünning and a reading from "Wildschütz" with Christina Seck.

13.04.2005 - Library budget - new models of budgeting

In the all-day "special session" of the AG UB, which took place at Paderborn University, a series of presentations were held and discussed: "Introduction to the topic: Library budget - new models of budgeting" (Dr. Dietmar Haubfleisch, Paderborn University Library), "Distribution of funds in anticipation of the global budget: state of affairs at the University of Duisburg-Essen" (Wolfgang Sellinat, University of Duisburg-Essen), "Programme budgets" (Dr. Beate Tröger, ULB Münster), "Modellversuch Globalhaushalt - Erfahrungen an einer Pilothochschule" (Dr. Michael Höppner, UB Bielefeld), "Budgetierung an den Hochschulen in Rheinland-Pfalz" (Hansjörg Hundemer, UB Trier), "Bibliothekshaushalt - neue Modelle der Budgetierung: Das Beispiel Hessen" (Dr. Peter Reuter, UB Giessen).

02.03.2005, 18.00 - Paderborn careers information days: book trade/library/publishing - practical reports

As part of the "Paderborn Careers Information Days" series organised by the Paderborn Rotary Clubs and the Paderborn Employment Agency, career practitioners will present the professions of bookselling, publishing and libraries on 2 March.

Ms Claudia Dembek, a librarian at Paderborn University Library, will present the job profile of librarians in academic libraries, which has changed considerably in recent years.

06.07.2004 - 7th book bazaar

A total of 4,500 books and journals were offered at the 7th Book Bazaar of the University Library, especially from the engineering and natural sciences, computer science and mathematics as well as sports science. Approximately 1,700 books and journals were sold. The income generated, totalling approximately €2,900, was used to purchase new specialist literature.

Approx. 8,000 books and journals were offered at the 6th Book Bazaar of the University Library. Approx. 2,400 books and journals were sold. The proceeds of approx. 3,900 € were used to purchase new specialised literature.

03.10.2003 - Erlesenes zur Nacht

At the "Erlesenes zur Nacht" book night organised by the City of Paderborn, the University Library presented a wide range of events: the 6th book bazaar (see above), a Jenny Aloni exhibition (see below), a reading by the Paderborn "pub reading team", meditations on the Gospel of John by Dr. Eugen Drewermann, a reading by Verena Arnhold, Eva Berlage and Patrick Schwedler from Paderborn University's studio theatre from Botho Strauss' "Paare, Passanten" and a reading by Melanie Kieroth and Andre Lottmann, two Berlin students from Paderborn. Some of the readings were introduced by music, performed by Verena Eller and Marcus Koch from the music seminar, and a sound installation by Dr Bernhard Weber and Eckhard Wiemann could be heard in the stairwell.

The library took part in the university's "Open Day" organised under the motto "Fascination University" from 10.00 - 18.00 with an information stand in the foyer of the C building, short guided tours of the library, a presentation of the library's internet services in the Notebook Café, the library's 5th book bazaar (see above), an exhibition on the 20th Paderborn University Writers' Guest Lectureship (see below), a reading corner for children and a library quiz.

06.09.2002 - Opening of the Notebook Café

The Notebook Café was opened in room Bl 1.111 in the entrance area of the Paderborn University in the presence of Gabriele Behler, Minister for Schools, Science and Research of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, as part of the launch of the "Lernstatt Paderborn" project.
The Notebook Café will be run by the Centre for Information Services (ZIM) in cooperation with the University Library. The room, previously used as a group and lecture room at the University Library, is to provide the infrastructure for around 60 students to use the WLAN with their own notebooks - provided it is not temporarily used for special University Library events. Zudem soll ein vom ZIM betreutes Helpdesk installiert werden, in dem Studierende (studentische Hilfskräfte) Studierenden Beratung rund um die Themen Notebook und WLAN, zu Virenschutz und Firewall, Beratung und Hilfe bei Befall des Rechners mit Viren und Trojanern geben, Störungsmeldungen u.ä. annehmen und weiterleiten u.v.a.m.

01.07.2002 - Farewell to the previous library director Klaus Barckow and inauguration of the new library director Dr. Dietmar Haubfleisch

The event, which took place at 2.00 pm in lecture theatre C 2, was opened by the Rector of the University, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Weber, with words of welcome. This was followed by words of welcome from Ministerialrat Johannes Helf (Ministry for Schools, Science and Research of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia) and Dr Dieter Stäglich (Chairman of the Working Group of University Libraries (AG UB) in the Association of Libraries of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia e. V. (vbnw)).V. (vbnw)), a "eulogy" for Klaus Barckow, who had headed the University Library since its foundation, by Prof. Dr Dirk-Michael Barton (Deputy Chairman of the Library Commission), a "look back" by Klaus Barckow and an "outlook" by the new library director Dr Dietmar Haubfleisch. This was followed by a reception organised by the Rector for the external guests and members of the Senate and Library Commission in the University Library's lecture room.

13.06.2002 - 4th book bazaar

Like the first three book bazaars (24.10.1999, 23.04. - 25.04.2001 and 21.11. - 22.11.2001), the 4th book bazaar of the University Library was also a success. Of the approx. 5,250 books and magazines on offer, approx. 2,800 books and magazines were sold. The proceeds of approx. 2,300 € were used to purchase new specialised literature.
