Open Access Journals Paderborn University
The University Library (UB) supports researchers and institutions of Paderborn University in publishing their own (Diamond) Open Access journals. The University Library uses the infrastructure service "Open Journal System (OJS)" for this purpose.
OJS is the world's best-known software for managing and publishing scientific journals. It can be used to map the entire publication process of a journal article through detailed rights management and various roles (journal administrator, editor, section editor, proofreader, reviewer, author, reader).
The University Library uses the OJS infrastructure provided by the North Rhine-Westphalia University Library Centre (hbz) to all state-funded universities in NRW that are part of DH.NRW. The legal basis for this use is a cooperation agreement concluded between Paderborn University and the hbz in July 2024.
The University Library will set up access to the OJS for the editors of a journal and provide support in adapting and familiarising themselves with the system as well as in setting up a new journal or helping to migrate/transfer existing journals to the OJS. It defines a workflow with the editors so that they can publish new volumes, issues and articles independently. The University Library also supports the editors in an advisory capacity during ongoing operations. The University Library ensures the sustainability of the published content and maximises its visibility.
Publication of the first journal is planned for the 4th quarter of 2025.
