Information on the access conditions for electronic journals of Paderborn University Library

Most publishers currently regulate access to paid online services by checking the IP address of the requesting computer. Therefore, in most cases neither a special identification nor a password is necessary for access from the Paderborn University network. If a password is required - by a few publishers - you will find it in the notes on the individual publishers or titles.

Before accessing e-journals and saving data, please read the terms of use of the publishers/providers. Access to the data requires compliance with them.

As a rule, no proxy server may be used for password-free access to the full texts of the electronic journals. If a proxy server is switched on at your PC (WWW browser), you may have to switch it off yourself!

We expressly point out that the terms of use of the publishers/providers generally prohibit the use of "web spiders" and similar software for the purpose of machine downloading from electronic journals.

According to the applicable copyright law and the licence agreements concluded by the UB, it is prohibited to download or print electronic journals in whole or in large parts.

To read and process many journal articles in full text (PDF format) you need Acrobat Reader, which is available free of charge. This software is already installed at the user workstations in the University Library.
