Der Katalog der Universitätsbibliothek ist nun auch in englischer Sprache verfügbar. Die voreingestellte Sprache ist derzeit Deutsch. Diese kann bei Bedarf auf Englisch umgestellt werden. Die entsprechende Funktion befindet sich in der Menüleiste neben dem Button „Anmelden“.

The websites of the Paderborn University and with them also the websites of the University Library will receive a new visual appearance and a new navigation structure with the migration on 18 July 2023. At the moment, the library's pages are presented in a preliminary migration design. This presentation will gradually be replaced by the new design.

Researchers at the University are given the opportunity to receive financial support from the University's new Open Access Publication Fund for the publication of research results in open access journals, articles in open access anthologies and open access monographs.
The fund is provided by the university. It is managed by the University Library on the basis of the Open Access Policy and in compliance with the'Funding Criteria for the Open Access Publication Fund of Paderborn University' adopted by the Senate in its meeting on 18 January 2023.

The team at my beneFIT@upb.de is again offering students break yoga and brain breaks as small units of relaxation and concentration exercises until the end of the lecture period, i.e. until 14.07.2023.

Break yoga always takes place on Tuesdays from 8:15 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., Brain Breaks on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m..

The meeting point for both offers is the passage from level 4 to the specialist library level 2 in building I. Registration is not required.

In the summer semester 2023, the University Library will again offer its proven range of courses increasingly as face-to-face courses. Some courses will also continue to be offered online. You can find the current range of courses on our training website.

As part of the introduction of the new library management system Alma, the catalogue, which had been in beta status since 01.08.2022, was also renewed. This phase has now ended with the update of the catalogue. Irrespective of this, the catalogue will be continuously developed further. From Tuesday, 28 February to Friday, 3 March 2023, the "Writing Days" event will take place for the first time in the University Library, from 9:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. each day.

Students and doctoral candidates from all faculties are invited to spend these four days in the library working intensively on their writing projects. They will be supported with short workshops and advice on writing and literature searches. Common movement breaks with yoga or brain breaks offer a pleasant interruption and the conversation during the coffee break may motivate with new writing impulses.

Registration is via the library's booking system for training courses.

The "Writing Days" are organised by the Competence Centre for Writing and the University Library, together with other university institutions such as the Writing Meeting for International Students, ProLernen, the Centre for Spelling Competence, the Graduate Centre of the Faculty of Cultural Studies and the University Sports Centre.

This year, the University Library is once again taking part in the digital information days for pupils with two Zoom lectures on the subject of "First aid for the subject paper - literature search in the library".

From Monday, 20.02.2023, electrical work will start on level 3 to replace the existing luminaires with brighter and more energy-efficient luminaires. The electrical work will be carried out in several construction phases.

The work will first begin in the Sports Science media staging area and the neighbouring periodicals field. Workplaces on Level 3 will have to be dismantled or blocked off for the necessary re-routing of cables.

Access to the respective construction sections will be blocked. If you need literature located in a blocked field, please contact the staff in the subject library or the Information Centre from Monday to Thursday from 8:00 to 18:30 and on Fridays from 8:00 to 15:00 or the desk of the Local Lending Department on Fridays from 15:00 to 18:30 and on Saturdays from 9:00 to 16:00.
